Italian designer, Cristina Celestino, excels at contemporary design that references historic styles and forms. She will unveil her latest work at Salone del Mobile, a 1928 tram transformed into a ‘traveling salon’ that journeys back to old-world glamour coupled with a trendy, modern feel.
In Milan, the Wallpaper* Handmade space offers new launches, exuberant bars and more. Wallpaper* will present never before seen captivating collaborations with Russel Pinch, Marc Ange, and many more, conveying a vibrant and playful ambiance.
The New York based design studio, Snarkitecture, createds an ampitheatrical installation for Salone del Mobile this year. They craft a visual language based on natural topography, while a palette of white and grey coolly emphasises form, materiality and manmade artifice.
Lasvit presents a whole new take on ‘monsters’ at Salone del Mobile this year. Jakimič, the project has delivered a diverse family of monsters, from a mirror encrusted with googly eyes by the Paris-based couturier Maurizio Galante to a menacing stained-glass portrait by octogenarian artist Vladimír Kopecký.
Prolific design studio du jour Nendo has added to its ever-plentiful yield at this year’s Salone del Mobile with a plethora of table-top offerings. Last year, Nendo’s dynamic imagination ran wild with a whimsical, futuristic clock installation. Now, at least for this project, the grasp is on the practical: kitchen container lids.
Italian architect Massimiliano Locatelli of CLS Architetti has been working with Italcementi Heidelberg Cement Group, Arup and Cybe on a never before seen project for Milan Design Week: a 3D-printed house, which will be built on site at Piazza Cesare Beccaria during the course of the fair. The project encompasses creativity, sustainability, flexibility, affordability and rapidity.
