Dolce & Gabbana’s newest store will be sure to take your breath away! Designed by architect Gwenael Nicolas of Curiosity, the space is home to two of Italy’s most celebrated exports: opera and Dolce & Gabbana. The store combines the aesthetics of the luxury clothing line and the world-famous opera house, the Teatro alla Scala in Milan.
Enjoy the museum quality sculpture and design coupled with fabulous pieces of clothing at this gorgeous boutique in the Miami Design District.
The waves in the glass façade of the two-story building are representative of a theater curtain, while spotlights in the ceiling brighten the fiberglass sculptress and busts of notable actors scattered in the store. The boutique is furnished with Baroque mirrors and walnut furniture, finished with polished steel and gold velvet.
The store layout conveys that of a set design from a theatrical play. This would make sense, as the Teatro alla Scala is one of Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana’s favorite places to visit.
In order to pay homage to the classic Italian landmark, the interior of the store is a mix of polished and raw travertine and Vesvelve marble with a stucco ceiling on the ground level. Five perforations on the top story look over onto the artwork and designer fashion below, as if gazing from a gallery box in a theater.
Dolce & Gabbana has started experimenting with concept stores; this luxury brand just recently opened a boldly designed outpost that satisfies many of their millennial shoppers throughout the New York City area. With graffiti murals and vibrant colors, this store makes for the perfect backdrop for an Instagram selfie.
