The joie de vivre of Vincent Darré is absolutely infectious. This paris-based designer is known for both his joyful personality and joyful work. His vivid interior design uses plenty of bright colors, fun details and whimsical pieces. The theatricality and drama of Darré’s designs go hand in hand with his larger than life presence.
Born in 1959, Vincent Darré did not come to interior design until the mid-2000s. As a teenager, he loved going to the legendary nightclub Le Palace in Paris, where he befriended people like Christian Louboutin and Andree Putman. After seeing the dresses he created for parties, his friends quickly encouraged him to go into fashion design. After graduating from Studio Bercot, Vincent worked everywhere from Yves Saint Laurent to Prada. He held an important position at Fendi for 6 years as Lagerfeld’s right hand man, which he followed with being artist director at Moschino and head of design studio at Ungaro. He completed only two unsuccessful seasons before stepping back and reflecting.
The spark that lit the match was a visit to a Dada exhibition at the Pomipdou Center. The show inspired him so much that he began designing furniture, and fell in love completely with the world of interior design. In 2008 he opened his interior design firm, Maison Darré. He’s been thriving ever since, creating absolutely fabulous furniture and design work. See below for the evidence!
