TOP 5 HOTELS IN BASEL
Located in the heart of Basel on the shore of the Rhine, the Grand Hotel Les Trois Rois exudes luxury at its finest. Originally built in 1884, the building is rich with history and offers a warm and elegant ambiance. Whether you stay here or elsewhere, the hotel’s restaurant Cheval Blanc by Peter Knogl (one of our top restaurant picks below) is a must if you can get in!
Sophisticated and chic, the Pullman Basel Europe is just a quarter mile from the city center and 215 yards from Messe Basel, making it a perfect location for your Art Basel trip.
Not on our top list, but really only because we were limiting the list, the hotel’s restaurant Les Quatre Saisons with its ceiling of unique chandeliers and upholstered dining chairs is highly rated by all that have dined there!
A fairly new hotel to Basel, Nomad Design & Lifestyle Hotel opened in January 2016. The modern and urban designed building was originally a 1950’s-apartment house.
A beautifully designed eco-friendly 4-star boutique hotel situated in the heart of Basel.
Looking for an art inspired contemporary 4-star hotel on the edge of the city’s old town – The Passage Basel is it!
TOP 5 RESTAURANTS IN BASEL
The 14th century Bottmingen Castle is home to the renowned restaurant Schloss Bottmingen – if you are in the mood for a fairy-tale meal this is your destination.
Recognized by Architectural Digest as one of the world’s most beautiful restaurant designs in 2013, Volkshaus is well worth a visit even if you don’t plan to dine, which of course you should because head chef Benjamin Mohr’s food is sensational! Designed by architects Herzog & de Meuron the building resonates tradition and modernity in unison.
A 3 star Michelin restaurant, the gourmet Cheval Blanc is set in the Grand Hotel Les Trois Rois and headed up by the brilliant Chef Peter Knogl. Brilliant purple upholstered chairs pop in the elegant traditional dining room. An ultimate French culinary experience!
Located in the wonderful Der Teufelhof Basel Hotel (not on our list above, but again only due to limited space as this is surely an excellent choice of place to stay), Atelier features an urbane atmosphere offering global cuisine all of which is “hand-made”. Dinner or lunch, this is a great place to dine.
Their philosophy “Culinary art, reinterpreted – fresh, local and surprising”. With a stunning view of the Rhine from its setting in the Krafft Basel Hotel (also a great choice of place to stay), you are guaranteed a delightful dining experience.
